[78-L] Older musicians

My brother was the best harmony singer I've ever known. He could listen to
a song, one verse, and sing good harmony on the next one. At about 66 years
old or so, he got a bad flu virus which affected his ears; he lost hearing
in one and has ringing in the other. He will not try to sing anymore,
because he is afraid he won't get it right. I mourn the loss, because we
sang together for many years. I am probably wrong, but I still think if I
get a few drinks in him, he will rally and put on a good show.

My dad is in his late 80's. He was a #1 classical listener. Does not at all
anymore. Has a good sized collection of 33's and a pretty thorough knowledge
of what was and was not the best. Almost all lost now.

Lou Breese had to quit his trumpet when he got older. His daughter tells me
he "lost his lip."
