I bought that Musicraft of "Experiments in Big Band Jazz" of the Boyd Raeburn band back in the early '80s and I couldn't get over how bad the recordings were. The same could be said of some of the Artie Shaw sides of the same period.I discussed those with Skeets Herfurt who was on the Shaw sides from 25,26 June 1946.I have some of the original Musicraft 78s in my collection. The Shaw reissues on Everest were much better. Those sides came out on their "Folk and Jazz" series from the sixties.

IIRC,
good sound:
Harry The Hipster
bad sound:
both Georgie Auld
Raeburn, Experiments In Big Band Jazz (except the tracks Savoy had already reissued, such as Summertime) (I have the CD)
So Raeburn's "I Wanna Get Married" e.g., IIRC master went Guild ---> Musicraft --> Savoy but Savoy was cherrypicking Gillespie solos (more or less) so didn't bother to reissue that tune, whereas Marx had no master to "I Wanna Get Married" but did reissue it on album (and/or CD) anyway. Am I right?

Some time later Albert Marx revived the Musicraft label for LP and later CD reissues of
the catalog. I do not know if any masters were ever located.[...]
