[78-L] OT copy vis to dvd

I have some old VHS tapes of films which have not been made available on DVD (so far).  I would like to copy them to DVD, possibly
break them into
chapters, and possibly add a menu, if not difficult nor expensive.  Having a usable DVD would suffice.
Has anyone copied commercial VHS tapes
to DVD?
Please let me know what you are using, any problems with copy protection,
quality of DVD, any problems replicating the DVD ?
