Great article!  Thanks for explaining the many facets of this complex issue. 

I have the impression that the editor's addendum to the article draws the right conclusion: 
"fact is that modern technology has made the enforcement of copyright virtually impossible." 

Consequently there may not even be a change to the current situation in the EU: what has 
dropped out of "mechanical" or "performance" copyright after 50 years, will remain there, 
for lack of control and accounting administration - whether the EU Regulation passes in 28  
EU countries or not (i.e. 28 incl. Croatia). 

Or what do you readers think?
