[78-L] Question 1812 Overture

I have about 15,000 78s in my garage. It's sort of a half-way house.  It's a
better environment than most of them came from but these are ones I haven't
had time to sort and clean and re-sleeve.  The ones that are common and in
poor condition will be put out of their misery.  Some will be part of a set
sale list I'm putting together for commons in excellent condition and ones
that are unusual or interesting.  The keepers will be cleaned and added to
my database and brought into the house and into my "music room" as part of
my personal collection.

The garage has a concrete slab foundation and an attic exhaust fan to
control the summer's heat.  Here in south Texas we don't have to worry about
excessive moisture so nothing bad has happened to any of them.  In fact,
there was a moldy batch that came from Mississippi that can now be cleaned
fairly easily because the they have dried out.

I like buying 78s en masse because I learn so much.  Sometimes it's an
artist I've seen but not heard.  Sometimes it's a side by someone I don't
collect that I'll like.  Sometimes it's a release by a label I've dismissed
like the two Coleman Hawkins on Rondo (1555 & 1556). Rondo?  That batch I
recently bought in Houston has 25-30 different non-Ken G Rondos.   Lately
I've been buying a lot of small label 78s.  Most of the music is not great
but every so often.....................

I do so love this---it's way more than a hobby but still less than family
and friends.  That's just about right.
