[78-L] Label scanning

I still can't figure out why scanner manufacturers put that little lip
on there. Maybe it's to protect the glass?? In any case, I cut a 12"
cardboard record spacer down to precisely fit the glass inside the lip
and then cut a hole in the center about 5" x 7" (arbitrary - you can
make the hole as large as you need to) so I have a nice, flat surface to
lay the record on when making label copies. You shouldn't close the lid!
The scan will still be slightly out of focus but I see no way around
that other than an oversized scanner (and even most of those won't take
a 12" album cover!).
Unless, of course, someone here knows of a normal sized unit with no lip.
