I used to have an Artie Shaw LP some twenty years ago that featured his 1937 band plus some tracks which
featured Shaw and a string section. The arranger listed on one of the tracks was Hershey Kay.The album was issued by Columbia.I thought Shaw was in Spain by 1955.

Subject: [78-L] Arte Shaw's last recordings

According to Scott Yanow in the "All Music Guide To Jazz" Artie's last
three recordings were made with a string orchestra in November 1955.
They have been issued on vol 7 of Ajazz' "Later Artie Shaw" LP series,
but, as far as I know, not on CD or as mp3's.
Does anyone know more details about these recordings? Titles? Lineup?
Shaw on clarinet or just front man? First issue?
Kristjan
