Swedish Radio started to use acetates in 1931 - by 1938 a series of five
different blanks were advertised by Svenska Radioaktiebolaget (a company
that also manufactured radio sets): three were cardboard-based acetates (15,
20 and 25 centimeters) and two aluminum-based (25 and 30 cm).
Gelatin discs seems to have been used mainly for home recording and
advertising at the time. Product names were Contiphon, Awiton and Melograph
(these were all transparent flexies, but aluminum-based gelatins were also
available).
