John,
Sorry I can't help you. If it was an electric Harmony it would have to be 1930 or later as all the Columbia discount labels were acoustic until 1930. If I do run across such a record I'll certainly let you know. I'd like to hear it myself. Jack

Jack,
Thanks for the additional information on 'On Mobile Bay'. I wasn't aware that Dalhart had recorded it, but that doesn't surprise me! My interest is not so much in the song, but in that particular dance band version I once owned. It was a maroon/red label 'Harmony' electric -- not the earlier acoustic 'scheme' 'Harmony Disc Record' with the large center hole. The dance band recording I refer to was very loud and clear -- brilliant sound -- very 'microphonic' like a good electrical recording of that era should sound. The tenor banjo work was stand-out, as was the ensemble vocal refrain. I would love to have a copy of that record again! Hell, I'd love to just know who recorded it!

One was done as a pop song with the International Orchestra backing. It was issued on Victor 20913.. This is a fine version of the song. They did another version along with Adelyne Hood on violin and Robison on guitar. This was issued on Cameo 8114, Romeo 537 and Licoln 2768. This is my favorite version. The three of them did a 3rd version on Pathe 32335. It was also issued on Perfect 12414 and Supertone 32330. I hope this helps. If not I might be able to get an MP3 or wav copy for you from my friends who now own my collection. Jack

Can't recall the band, the catalog number, or the B-side. Does anyone have a copy of this record and/or does anyone have a copy to sell? Thanks!
