[78-L] Laughing Record in an unexpected context

I was on the highway today, and I had a half dozen 1957 Bob & Ray programs for
entertainment (and for practically driving off the road..mygawd they were
getting even more surreal by that time). What's a little scary is that one of
them was a program I can remember hearing when it was new. Anyway, kiddies, in
another program they announced that the kids of the cast of "The Life And Loves
of Linda Lovely" were going to do their own show. This then proceeded, as "Mary
Backstage" (which was a series they hadn't done in years, remember). And what
they did was record an entire sketch, put it to disc at 33 and play it at 45.
For about 4 minutes. 4 almost totally unintelligible minutes..even the Linda
Lovely Theme (with that theremin) was up speed. And as a plot device, the cruel
sea captain Wolf Larsen ordered another character (Webley Webster's voice) to
play a trombone so people could dance. And on came..The OKeh Laughing Record.

Crazy, man!
