I don't think this record has anything to do with the Liberty Music
Shop. More likely the departed owner of the estate was a Republican
and/or part of the distribution of the record. I think I might also
have a copy of this disc. It is a follow up of the campaign stunt
Senator Arthur Vandenburg pulled in 1936 doing a broadcast "debate" with
recordings of FDR that Gennett had recorded in 1932 for the Republican
National Committee (they are in the Gennett ledgers). I wrote about
this in my Ph.D. dissertation. The Senator tried to trick CBS into
letting him use these recordings on the network against their rules
banning recordings -- the campaign manager Hugh Blackett LIED when he
stated he knew nothing of the rules (so much for ethics). Blackett was
the head of the Blacket-Sample-Hummert ad agency which was in the midst
of a battle with the networks over playing recordings of the Hummert
soap operas on WMCA in prime time. He damn well knew the rules!
Anyhow, I haven't compared this recording with the recording the
Republicans syndicated in 1936 of a re-do of the Vendenburg "debate".
The arguments were rather asinine as I remember.

> Can anyone provide date and perhaps other info regarding record that appears to be Decca pressing - matrices 76468A and 76469A? Labels are white with blue print. Side 1 label reads LET'S HEAR THE RECORD! - Part 1 - Taken from the speeches of candidate Roosevelt -- The voice is NOT the Voice of the Third Term Candidate - but the WORDS are irrevocably his. Listen to them! / Distributed by Gotham Record Company, Inc, 205 East 42nd Street, New York City. The matrix number without the A appears at the bottom of the label in font style used by Decca for record numbers. The side 2 label has only LET'S HEAR THE RECORD - part 2 with matrix number at bottom. I acquired a couple of copies of the disc at the same estate sale where I acquired a batch of Liberty Music Shop records and wonder if this disc may have been associated with the LMS label.
