Al - That sounds like a nice find :) I have seen a few HMV presses with the little sticker on them in my various travels, and usually the qualkity is pretty good.

I don't usually go for too many classical things in my shellac hunting, but I *will* keep my eyes out for anything 'different', which is how I got my VRS set of Indian music by Ravi Shankar's father. The most recent thing I picked up was a VRS set of "Trial By Jury" (Gilbert & Sullivan)... US Victor Red Seal lables but they're from HMV masters (both HMV and VIctor matrices showing on the runout area). Soloists include Leo Sheffield, Albert Hosking, Derek Oldham, and Winifred Lawson. Recording director was, of course, Rupert D'oyly Carte.

I've digitized them already, interesting performance :)

Cheers,

Brad

O.K. How abour my Brahms Piano Concerto No. 1 in B Major by Wilhelm Backhaus

and the BBC Symphony Orch. under Adrian Boult.

on five 12 inchers from HMV with tiny little stickers on each record "Made

In England For Radio Corporation of America"

How did that occur? An English studio recording, bought in Holland, on an

English label with an English Orchestra but with that mysterious little

U.S.A.sticker.
