Will this include jazz- or ragtime-related stuff, or formal music like Hayes and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, or will you be delving into the world of African folk music recorded in Britain, like Harry Quashie, Ben Simmons, and other artists featured on the Honest Jon CD "Living Is Hard: West African Music in Britain, 1927-29"?

Those recordings were made at the London Zonophone studios, according to the liner notes; I don't know what this refers to, as Zonophone was as far as I know a label of The Gramophone Company, a lower-priced(?) line next to "His Master's Voice". I wonder where that studio was, and I wonder if they were converted to electric recording yet, or if they continued to use the old acoustic gear for these records, which were mostly meant to be sold back in West Africa.

Hi Thomas,
We are busy working on a GIGANTIC re-issue set of all recordings made by
people of African descent in Europe during the acoustic era. This would
include all six titles Hayes cut for the Aeolian Vocalion company in
Britain. We are in need of label scans of all six sides, also of the
four sides which had been released in the US (Vocalion, Supertone). We
also need to locate copies in E+ condition for digital transfers. Can
anybody help, please?
Thanks
Rainer
