This is strictly *off the record* (dud-du-bump), but I read elsewhere 
that Creme of Tartar can be used to deoxidize aluminum without affecting 
the surface too much. If you don't care about the labels, you can try 
immersing on of the records in a boiling solution of 2 teaspoons and one 
quart of water.
