I bought all 19 of these SACDs, and the Paray/Chabrier is indeed
outstanding. What a pity they did so few.
My suspicion, though, is that the crucial difference may be in the Sony DSD
technique for converting from analogue to digital, more than the final
disc format. Sony have a number of CD reissues done with DSD, and they
all sound unusually good.
It would be very interesting to hear some DSD transfers from 78s rather than
tape.
