[78-L] How well did they do it

Victor acoustics with an 'S/8' take digit are acoustic dubs. (Victor
17696-B, 'British troops passing through Boulogne', anyone?)
Did Columbia do any acoustic-era dubbing?
Wasn't there a Victor of Cantor Rosenblatt that was dubbed to edit it
for time reasons?
Tape was used to master 78s when they began using it for 45s. (And
aren't many early 45s mastered from the same disc sources as used for
the 78s thereof?)
And Patti Page was often direct-to-disc-to-disc-to-disc-to-disc....
