[78-L] Belting an Edison Phonograph

I am assuming that you tapered each end of the belt so that when you glue
them together, the total belt thickness at that joint is no thicker or
thinner than the unshaved belt surface.

Count me in if you find the answer.  I have a Standard B with a replaced
belt doing the same thing.  That's three of us - does that make it on topic
yet?

No, no. I have the same problem. The cut & splice method of installing a 
new belt did not work well for me either, and I got the same results you 
did. If you figure it out please let me know, off list if necessary.
