[78-L] Using alcohol vapour to clean discs

I wonder if the alcohol evaporated out of the dish from the warmth of the
cabinet bottom but condensed on the cooler metal surfaces, collected into
droplets and rained back into the dish. Records dissolve when in contact
with alcohol so I wouldn't try it.

Subject: [78-L] Using alcohol vapour to clean discs

My grandfather used to clean pocketwatches by suspending them with
the gears exposed downward, over a dish of spirits/alcohol. He would set
this arrangement up in a cupboard and forbid anyone to open the door for
several days. Sure enough there would a collection of fine particles in
the dish after the waiting was over, and the watch was as clean as
possible without any dismantling.
Would this process work for cleaning discs?
