[78-L] Meller/Moreschi.

The trio I'm familiar with is Laudamus te with Boezi and Dado and
the Cappella Sistina. Is this what you have? Alessandro Moreschi's
name will be on the record which as a G&T probably has a unique
Vatican label. If that's what you have, You paid very little for it.
There are Cappella Sistina records on which Moreschi does not appear.
He is the only castrato on the record. I still have a G&T, the Pie
Jesu (Laibach). It's my understanding that at at about this time,
under a new pope, they stopped singing this music and went to
Gregorian Chants. Perhaps there is information about that in the
article or in a book about the castrati. There is early opera for
castrati that is basically not performable today. Again, he was
trained as a church singer, not an opera singer.
