Well, evidently the marriage did occur, because it is mentioned in an
April 1947 newspaper article about Elizabeth Wysor that in her private
life, she is the wife of "Edward Smith, associate editor of Musical
Digest," and that they lived in New York. He was writing for that
magazine since at least the mid-1940s.  According to a subsequent
article, from late March 1950, the couple traveled together for
performances: she sang, and he gave lectures about the history of
recorded music. During his presentations, he often utilized some of his
large personal collection of phonograph records: he even had a rare
recording of Jenny Lind.  That article from March 1950, "Club to Present
Miss Wysor, Music Critic Here Saturday Night," Fredericksburg (Virginia)
Free Lance-Star, March 29, 1950, p. 7) said he was a former music editor
at Variety, and evidently he had recently left Musical Digest because it
mentioned he was associated with Continental Records as its artistic
director, and editor of World-Wide Music Syndicate.
