Dear db,
I’m very fond of Canaro (Francisco) orchestra. Our Odeon label (later in EMI spanish Branch) issued many records by Canaro since the mid-20’s; originals were issued by Argentinian Odeon. There’s a neat website (look for Todotango) with histories and discographies of many argentinian artists... Canaro there were at least three brothers, AFAIK, for I’ve seen a certain ‘ M. Canaro’ in songs credits, and I know of a Rafael Canaro orchestra.
I hoped more Canaro records were issued in UK, for you always had a strong appeal towards southamerican music... Parlophone should have issued them. They were recorded from the early 20’s well into the late 40’s maybe more... I believe Canaro’s was a long musical career...
