Thanks for the plug, Mark.
So now we know where your record did not come from (unless Paramount
released 20290 twice, which I wouldn't put past them), where did it come
from? I have been attempting to find out. I believe I have seen LL-
prefixed matrices in the flow of things discographic but cannot remember
where or for what record company. Also, Hugh Donovan has been used as a
pseudonym by Charles Harrison, Arthur Fields as well as Ernest Hare (but
Harrison is the #1 suspect) for Grey Gull, et al. I have checked
Emerson, Paramount, Grey Gull and others companies, all to no avail.
I have discovered that "Ben Bolt" was not a common recording and I could
find no references to either Anita Miller or the tune she recorded,
either. To be fair, I did not check Pathe/Perfect, Columbia or Victor
for recordings of "Ben Bolt".
Anyone else have any success?
Malcolm

However, I have not before encountered the "LL" prefix in a Paramount family recording before (it's not "L," as in the Wisconsin Chair-made matrices from 1929 forward.) Anyone know where these sides originated, and a date of recording?
