Mmmm...
If you've found the HMVs bear true British matrix numbers, and DAHR lists
the same selections with Victor numbers, then either it is not the same
recording, either Victor recorded both matrices at the same time, one for
America and another one for Europe, but this sounds strange to me... It was
not very common. Could be an HMV replacement of DB-676 with same artist and
selection, but using an UK recording, completely different? Common practice
in other companies, but sounds strange for HMV, for they usually gave new
catalogue numbers for different renditions of same piece by same artist,
the acoustic/electric versions, for instance...
