I have just been dubbing a number of 78s of the violinist Jan Kubelik, all Gramophone Company except for one Victor. The GC discs have British matrices, and I looked at the online Victor discography for the matrix number of the Victor. I was surprised to see that the GC discs are mentioned as having been recorded in Camden with Victor matrices. Furthermore, the Sarasate Spanish Dance on Victor 74366 is listed as being the same recording and take as the one issued on DB 676, which it certainly is not.
I should be grateful if anyone can shed light on any of this.
