And the only reason I can think of for not putting that on the CD might be that it wasn't 50 years old yet!

But browsing through a cabinet of 78s which is from the CBC collection, I encountered a set called, "King Wenceslas - A Xmas play", a set of 2 HMV 12 inch 78s with Ann Stephens as an actress and singer and a cast of players. It appears never to have been played since the surface is clean and whisper quiet and there are no marks on the label indicating searching for the spindle. It's a delightful performance with actors, narrator, Symphony Orchestra and Conductor Charles Williams. I don't know if it's particularly rare but it's new to me.
