Now we could transition from 45's with their big holes to 16 2/3's with their even bigger holes, at least the ones from Seeburg Music Library, Inc.'s Industrial Library and their instructions for when to place in use. (I wonder if Columbia had secret listeners to go around and make sure your elevators were playing the correct stack.) The next time you're looking at retro turntables and the salesperson assures it that it plays all speeds, ask if it will play your 16's and watch the expression on the twenty-something person's face.I think there is probably no elevator music because so many people walk around with ear buds listening to their own.
