As i pointed out in a previous mail Heinrich Konig states an ARA mx
number for the HMV issue of"That's What I Like About The South" , which
indicates that it's not an RCA remake, but an RCA-Victor reissue.

If you click on the title of the "B" side ("That's What I Like About The
South"), you'll see that it's taken from an ARA recording (probably
1944). Harris is said to have rerecorded some of the ARA stuff when he
went to Victor. Both titles are also available on Victor 20-2089. The
"A" side ("If You've Ever Been Down In Texas") was also released on
Victor 20-2681.
And Harris did record "That's What I Like About The South" as early as
in 1937, but on Vocalion, as you say.

Hopefully he'll be as good as Ty is about making corrections, because there are more than a few errors and inaccuracies scattered through it. Someone mentioned the Phil Harris single (HMV BD 5989) that he dates to 1937, giving the recording date for Harris's 1937 Vocalion recording of "That's What I Like About the South." That HMV single is actually the British issue of Harris's 1946 RCA Victor single 20-2089, pairing a remake of "South" with "If You're Ever Down in Texas (Look Me Up)." "Texas" wasn't even published until 1946..
