[78-L] 78 rpm stylus question

I would emphasize that all records I have played with this stylus exhibit this effect, but not with any other stylus, so it can't be the disc. I could understand it if there were a big resonance, but this is a very sharp localised drop in output - about 20dB in the left channel, and 8dB in the right. The response otherwise is quite normal, so 'broken' doesn't quite get to the cause. And I haven't got a dog.

So I wondering if there is a connection between this strange behavior 
and dog whistle. Why would a cooling wax master cause a spike at some 
specific freq? Why not at many freqs or broadband? And does this somehow 
relate to what Christopher is seeing? I echo his question, has anyone 
else ever seen such behavior?
