Good job Cary. Brings to mind, I wonder how many years or decades it will be before the many never-released 1944 Count Basie live recordings with Lester Young solos will be released. Lester's pretty famous, you'd think.

Subject: [78-L] New Tiffany Transcriptions to be released

Just finished annotating a new release on Real Gone Music of "Riding Your Way: The Lost Transcriptions of Tiffany Music." These are 50 previously lost (or more accurately, "misplaced") recordings from the landmark "Tiffany Transcriptions," a series of 26 sixteen-inch discs made by Bob Wills & his Texas Playboys in San Francisco between 1946 and 1947. Up until now, the same 150 tracks had been issued - originally on a bootleg LP on Tishomingo, then a single LP on Lariat, and finally a 10-LP set on Kaleidoscope, which was reissued on CD on Rhino and then in a box set on Collector's Choice. The original tapes languished on a Warner Bros. warehouse shelf for years before over 300 additional tracks were discovered. This 2-CD set includes 50 of these sides, with hopefully more to come. I interviewed steel guitarist Herb Remington, who at 87, is the last surviving participant from those sessions - The set comes out April 29, but as a bonus, a 10-track 12-inch red vinyl LP, including four tracks not on the CD set, will be released on Record Store Day (April 19). Preorders will be available on Amazon in a couple of weeks.
