I've just been playing the few Majestics that I have.
First, the standard black shellac pressings play better than the 
"Duraflex" pressings, at least they wear better.
Second, Mildred was still  in great voice at this late date.
Three, wasn't Ellis Larkins a great accompanist?

Didn't John Hammond supervise some of the Majestics? Pity no-one asked 
him about the overdubbing. He also supervised Chick Bullock's last two 
sessions for Columbia/Okeh. Did anyone ask him how they came about?
