But it got your attention!!!  Those dowels were attached to the
innersleeve, not the album itself, which meant you needed to take care
of those innersleeves and not mix them up. By the early 60s they dropped
the dowels and pasted the embossed leatherette directly on the spine of
the album.  Also an expensive attention getter.
