Oy, is that a relief!  It still sounds pretty sick-making.  I think I'm glad never to have seen
it, even if it is James Mason.

A bit late in responding to this one. What I meant to say was that Mason 
played the Liberace character on-stage only. Off-stage he was his usual 
brooding self. His wife played the friend of the woman (June Havoc) who 
was obsessed with him.

One wince-making scene was when he's on stage, ruminating about what has 
been happening to him. He starts playing the piano with an introduction 
that goes on and on before he rushes off stage. What he played sounded 
very much like the riff that Eddie Heywood used for "Begin The Beguine"!
