I found this on line. It is a very limited preview of Donna's very informative and detailed Images of America book "Boston Radio 1920-2010" the actual book has many many more pages of detailed information concerning Boston Radio during the years mentioned, and I have included the link to the section which details some of the history of WNAC in the early years, including the section devoted t the Polar Bear's, as well as some of John Shepard's inovations, such as broadcasting the first Red Sox Game . You can scroll up to see the photo of the Polar bears, and then further up to see additional information about John Shepard III and the history of WNAC.

THAT is interesting. I didn't have Will Dodge as the leader of the
Polar Bears at that point. He led several other orchestras for Shepard,
and Charles Hector led the rest. But the record label cannot lie... I
wonder when the switch was made, because as I noted elsewhere, the Polar
Bears had their own show on WNAC during much of 1928-1929, and it was
Charles Hector who appeared at some of their live performances.
