Below is a list of ROYCROFT releases gathered from online sources.
Many THANKS to David Lennick for numerous updates and corrections from the ENGLISH SINGERS series.
Anyone else with copies of any ROYCROFT, please provide updates, corrections, additions.
NOTE: NO INFORMATION for 163(2nd side) 164 165(2nd side) 166 167 168 169 173
possibly 163/165 are misreadings of 3/5 - anyone have any of these discs???
NOTHING below 151, above 180
There is a catalog entry for OTAKAR MARAK (a Czech tenor) credited to ROYCROFT, but no catalog number.
Does anyone know if this is correct, or an error in specifying the label ??? MARAK recorded for
Gramophone, Parlophone, Victor, Columbia(US), Ultraphon (1930). Court Opera issued an LP, which I do not have - does
it's annotations give any information about Roycroft ???
THANKS!
Best wishes, Thomas

Subject: Re: [78-L] Cameo dates - was ROYCROFT label
Images shmimages, I have the English Singers album two and a half times (i.e. a
couple of sets in varying stages of completeness plus several loose discs, and
photocopies of the labels of some I was missing courtesy of the Belfer Lab).
The odd thing about that set of discs is that it was issued with some different
couplings, and some alternate takes have the lyrics spoken before the group
sings them. Six of the twelve discs were packaged in a smaller album as a
Christmas set, and all of the song arrangements by Vaughan Williams were issued
in a Pearl CD set of VW's music. I've been thinking of listing all of these on
eBay.
If anyone knows which issue of Record Research has a feature on this label,
I'll see what other information there is.

I don't know if this is the same recording, but the aria from The Bartered
Bride (Prodana Nevesta) by Otakar Marak is also on a European Columbia issue,
OC 57. The other side should be from Adam's Le Postillon de Longjumeau unless
someone named Marak wrote an opera with the same name.
The reason for multiple titles on some of the English Singers sides is that
they actually recorded more than 24 sides (as well as alternate takes) and I've
found 3 that have different couplings.
I've also found at least one Roycroft pressing that has an indentation in the
label, 1/4 inch from the outside, and evidence that these were in print long
enough to be part of the Carnegie Collections. Would ARC have continued
pressing them?
