I don’t know how successful those efforts have been one way or the other but I heard a new twist on that today at lunch when we heard oldies in the local eatery. From the start-and-stop sound and the few ads we heard it was obvious they had opened Pandora’s box and were piping that throughout the building. Has anybody gone after them or one of their endusers for royalties?

ASCAP and BMI boys.
They make the rounds. I used to have a karaoke show and they were
everywhere. Especially hit were the dance halls, because if the bar also
had bands, they WERE there. They charge either by the square footage or
by the number of seats. If you are in the Tavern League, you can get a
discount. ASCAP fees are not assessed to the bar owners for juke box.
That comes straight out of the vendors' pockets.
