Okay, I finally saw the show and my reaction was "eh".
At least the KKK segment was not fraught with errors and, when it came 
to the Gennett research they talked to at least one of the right people 
(and the ever helpful folks at the Indiana Historical Society). However 
standing inside a huge empty building in Richmond and saying "they 
recorded right here" is a bit of a stretch. An outside shot by the river 
and a map detail showing the studio location and the rail sidetrack 
right next to it would have been a bit better.
The rest of the article was sensationalized gabble centered around KKK 
pictures and history we've all seen elsewhere. Seems they were going for 
what's recognizable by the general public (KKK, Armstrong) as opposed to 
any real depth of field in researching the actual record.
My ears did perk uo when they identified the 100% Americans - Male 
Quartette (from the labels) as being The Logansport Male Quartet. This I 
didn't know.
And, somebody along this thread brought up that the KKK material was but 
a minimal detail in Starr's overall recorded output and not to be taken 
as indicative of what their labels did or represented, musically. I 
agree with this. Makes me wonder if History Detectives was tracking one 
of Alexander Maloof's Syrian recordings whether most of the segment 
would have been about middle-east politics. Maloof was far more 
profitable and less embarassing to Starr Piano than the KKK!

PS - Did anyone record the show? If so I need the name and address - as 
written - for the American Record (Store?) in Indianapolis that was 
printed on the sleeve they showed. Thanx, M
