Just been watching a DVD of one of the worst rock 'n' roll films of all
time called "Girls Town" (1959). When I tell you that the best acting
came from Mamie van Doren, you'll understand what I mean.

Others featured were Mel Torme, Ray Anthony and Paul Anka, their acting
being about as flat as the Kansas plains. If the acting was bad then the
songs were off the scale, including one by The Platters and Anka singing
"Ave Maria", which was denuded of any melody. Other nonentities were
Harold Lloyd Jr and Charles Chaplin Jr, neither of whom I was able to
identify on screen.

The film contained all the usual cliches: hot rods, "playing chicken",
doo wop, ending words with "ville" and "o", and liberal lacings of "hip".

Van Alexander wrote the musical score, which was often intrusive.

The only good thing was the quality of the print!

Not off topic because several of the performers appeared on 78.
