For drop changer use they're much better than the spirally plastic
ones that were very popular in the 50s and 60s, because they
didn't fall out!  My dad had a Webster Chicago record changer
(which I have held onto because it fascinated me so much when
I was 3-4 years old), so most of his 45 had those inserts in
them.
