Thanks for correction; I haven'r heard the H&J for longer than I care to think about, and then only on radio. Would LOVE to hear Mickey Katz - MP3 or cassette possible? Or youtube?

Good memory Mal. That's exactly right. Maybe "winder" instead of window.****
I have that record, and the Mickey Katz, Patti Page, and Lita Rosa, all from
1953.
Plus the 1963 version by Baby Jane and the Rockabyes, I'm proud to say.

I thought the lyrics were askew when I sar thwe original post, but
if I remember correctly (I don't have a copy of the record) it's
"How much is that hound dog in the window,
With a basketball nose on it's face?
You Know what a basketball nose is?
It dribbles all over the place."
****My version, egregiously misremembered, doesn't rhyme, but I've always thought that was part of its charm
