If you want to type cyrillic characters (or Greek, Armenian, Laotian, Chinese, Tamil...), 
you can do so on this website, and then copy/paste to the file where you want to

Be sure to click on the British flag for easier browsing. 
I use this site almost daily. 
You may have to install the appropriate fonts, but the links to the free fonts, and 
instructionsare on the page for each language.
