[78-L] HRS duplicated numbers

These McPartlands were recorded Apr 1936 but not issued at the time
(DJD says these were custom recs for HRS - see below - but at the time HRS had not yet issued 78s).
The 1000 series started with Aug 1938 recordings by Pee Wee.
I have a scan from the UK magazine Jazz Music v.3 nr.2 (Fall 1946) which reports that
"Clyde Clark, of Toronto [!], has cleared up some inconsistencies in recent HRS issue numbering:
(a) HRS 1003/4 issued as McPartland sides.
(b) Decca ceased pressing for HRS and released the McPartland sides themselves.
(c) HRS then issued nos 1003/4 as "Improvisations in Ellingtonia". These were never advertised
and few copies were pressed before HRS suspended operations.
(d) The reborn HRS company have now reissued them (using a new label design) ... They have
renamed Montmartre Django's Jump and have replaced I Know with Solid Rock."
Then it is suggested that Solid Rock (was on HRS 2005) is actually an error for Solid Old Man,
the orig. Swing reverse.

The McPartlands have the red HRS Originals label, with "Hot Record Society" address.
The Ellingtonias have similar labels, with "H. R. S. Record Shop" address.
The last issues have white labels with 303 Fifth Ave address at 12h.

>>> Thought the McPartlands predated the Caiden era but I don't actually have them
to check on the labels. The Stewarts are definitely HRS, 303 Fifth Avenue NY,
not Empire Record Corp.

The McPartland sides do not appear in a 1953 inventory that is attached to Eli Oberstein's lease of HRS material. Maybe Jack Caiden just wanted to forget the whole business.
