Well, the first pink label Beatles record I saw (and didn't buy) came
out of the oodles of old 45s from WMOR. The owner of the local record
store showed it to me about 15 minutes after taking it out in another
stack of records out of the station which was down the street from his
store. All of my bunch of VeeJay, Swan, Tollie, and Atco Beatles
records came from garage sales in the mid-60s, long before they started
being counterfeited. I could have gotten a stack of sealed boxes of
Introducing the Beatles from the record distributor I worked for in 1966
who couldn't do anything with them. Instead I got the Beatles vs. 4
Seasons and the gatefold picture issue from Sam Goody's Annex in 1965.
They had three copies of each -- shoulda gotten them. I have gotten a
few counterfeits to show people the difference, and last week we got a
counterfeit of Hear the Beatles Tell All for a buck for Leah just to
have the recordings. I have enough originals to be able to tell
counterfeits.
