That's what my parents told me.  That the whole panic story was
just a lot of publicity ginned up by Welles.  There were isolated
instances of people who came in in the middle panicking - some
thought it was a report of Nazis attacking the US - but most
people knew it was just a radio show and enjoyed it as such.
