Thanks, Han.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Cameron House, which was built
by the Cameron family in Olinda, Maui in 1914. It sits halfway up
Haleakala, Maui's BIG volcano, and was a stopover point for early
travelers going to view the summit. The house is in great shape. It was
built well before electricity and lit and fueled by hand compressed
kerosine. The compressor is like a giant tire hand-pump and had to be
charged before use. The original lines are still in place throughout the
house, albeit inoperative, for in-wall kerosine lamps.
There is a collection of some 500 or so records, mostly pre-WW! single
sided Victor popular and classical stuff, and the Camerons, who still
own the property, wanted to know its worth. The whole collection covers
from c. 1904 - c. 1950. The Vi 42106 was one of two Blue label Cantonese
records.
There was also a nice Victrola open-horn player and a small collection
of Hawaiian material which I'm digitizing for them.
So thanks very much for filling me in. I will pass it on.
Malcolm
