Herbie's membership was well known long before his death. He may have "had" to 
join, but it was still a fact, and he wasn't allowed to conduct or record in 
England until he was cleared. And yes, he made great music.

I still stand by my opinions of ASM's playing however, beginning with the 
Beethoven Concerto in stormtrooper tempos. How can this not be obvious?
