But getting back to Day (and most any singer of any time), the missing 
word is "to". Right when she was going into her solo stride, her 
audience was at home from the war making babies and growing lawns. And 
watching Lucy and Mary Tyler Moore. She sang to my mom. She sang to me. 
Mom could be heard in the kitchen singing those songs. So what did she 
sing? First of all, "Kay Said Ah".
Sappy? Childish? Well, I suppose. But she was singing to us, her audience.
Who else was doing this? No one less than Frank. "High Hopes"!
What they were doing is singing to US.
It's incredible the amount of fame Day built from that song. So can one 
blame her for doing more than a few sequels?
My all time favorite and still moves my heart is "Secret Love".
