Two jazz divas I can't stand: Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughn.

On the other hand I like Billie Holiday, Maxine Sullivan, Ivie Anderson, 
Chris Connor and June Christy (especially when not with Kenton).

As for "pure" singing I like Jo Stafford the most: she was so talented even 
when singing that awful repertoire Mitch Miller used to deliver to her.

And, if you are in doubt: she was capable of changing the melody as seamless 
as best jazz singers always did:
