[78-L] Newby Question....

I joined this list a few weeks ago and have been pleased with depth and breadth of discussions.  I hope you don't mind answering a basic question - When a record is marked as being made of 35mm film, is that different from vinyl records?  If so, how rare are they?  Why are the rims and centers indented?  I know this isn't quite related but I figured I go to a list of experts.  Thanks for your help.  Miss Patti.
