[78-L] French stuff esp. Chevalier

I don't usually get jealous; in collecting finding stuff is all part of the
game, but stumbling upon a stack of early Chevalier REALLY has my face
stinging! That to me is like finding a stack of Lee Morse Pathes, maybe
worse. Oh well. At least I did find a collection of HMV mid-30's Paul
Robesons at Bee-Bee's years ago.

The trouble with that Lubitsch DVD is that "One Hour with You" is in a
grainy black and white print. The "Lubitsch Touch" laserdisc set has that
film in a lovely, original, clean, tinted print: Gold for indoor, red for
action, and blue for night time. Also if it were to be done right what
about " Une Heure près de toi"? with Macdonald using her fluent French. I
know it exists since I have an awful multi-gen VHS of that film.

This is these set of PRE-CODE Chevalier/MacDonald musicals. I'm sure I saw
them YEARS ago but really enjoying them >now. So far only through the first
"The Love Parade" - the firsr sound musical where the songs carried the
plot.

in store and on line). (I also got a favorite Philly film - Blow Out - (non
musical) which has >a great transfer.
