[78-L] One or three holes?

I'd prefer Alone Again Naturally to You Light Up My Life but I'd still have to play both on the air if I was a DJ at the time. What did DJ's do when they aired a record they didn't like very well? Turn the monitor volume down to a low level until that record was finished or just leave the monotor level where it was & suffer through the record?
